June 1998 A majority of small-business owners who participated in June's survey on "Setting Up A Home Office" said
they would recommend a home office to other entrepreneurs. In fact, 63 percent of survey participants said they appreciated the flexibility of working at home and that it increased their productivity.
Although survey participants praised the numerous advantages of working at home, they also admitted to taking on added responsibilities to keep the business running smoothly. While nearly 30 percent of respondents outsourced financial management and accounting, an additional 35 percent handled activities ranging from financial management to marketing and inventory management themselves.
Home office owners also recognized the importance of establishing their business as a legal entity, with approximately 40 percent of respondents citing tax purposes as their primary reason, while 25 percent cited liability issues as a main concern.
